We are in the last four weeks of play of the 2021/22 Premier League season. As usual, there’s a big headache waiting Fantasy PL manager, with the next GW deadline looming. With 2 consecutive weeks of double play around the corner in GW36 and GW37, there’s a lot to think about. Now would be a great time to refresh the squad and those who saved their second wild card are in a great position. For those who have also saved the Rise of the bench chips, this is a great opportunity to combine the two. Here, we have compiled a Wildcard guide for FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 35 that structures the squad for the rest of the season and prepares the squad well for a Bench Boost in GW36.
With clocks ticking, the race for key seats on the table is far from over. Only 1 point separates Manchester City And Liverpool at the top, and this season’s title could go either way. Meanwhile, Arsenal spent a pretty decent week, beating rivals Chelsea and Manchester United to a 2-point lead in 4th place. There is no rest time for rest though, like spurs they are lurking just behind in 5th place, hoping to get their form back on track. On the other side of the table, Norwich city And Watford stay in the relegation zone, hoping for some sort of miracle. Everton slips to 18th place while a series of good performances bodes well for the Claretti to stay awake another season.
Note: This draft Wildcard will cost around 100 million, so it should be affordable for most players. We’ve also suggested some alternatives if you’d like to upgrade players with some remaining cash.
FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 35 Wildcard: Goalkeepers
1. Alisson Becker (6.0 million)
Liverpool is doing a charge to secure the title and have a decent DGW in GW36 against Tottenham And Aston Villa. While defenders are a great option by default, they still carry a slight rotation risk considering Liverpool’s European commitments. Alisson is unlikely to rest and is currently the highest scoring goalkeeper in the game.

2. Kasper Schmeichel (4.9 million)
Leicester City is, of course, one of the teams to aim for in the coming weeks. They play two consecutive weeks of consecutive play in GW36 and GW37, the remaining 6 games include all 3 of the last three teams in the league (Norwich, Watford and Everton). For those planning a bench raise in GW36, having two goalkeepers playing in a week of double play could pay off well.
Alternatives
- Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa) – 5.5 million
- Ederson (Manchester City) – 6.1 million
- Vincenzo Guaita (Crystal Palace) – 4.6 million
FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 35 Wildcard: Defenders
1. Marcos Alonso (5.6 million)
Chelsea lost the London derby to Arsenal a week ago but it looks like they may have resumed their run after the last minute win against West Ham. From now on, they will not play with six other big teams until the end of the season.
Their double week of play in GW36 against Leeds And Wolves it is also one to be targeted. Alonso fought for consistent minutes all season but started all of Chelsea’s last four games. With 2 goals, 5 assists and 8 more clean sheets, Spanish has an average 6 points per game this season.
2. Trent Alexander-Arnold (8.4 million)
Alexander-Arnold has been crazy this season with 12 assists – at the head of the championship together with his teammate Salah. It is a definitive choice for this wildcard draft, despite its high price.
3. Joao Cancelo (7.1 million)
It looks like the title race is going straight. Fortunately for Manchester City, their schedule shouldn’t be too much for them. They will play Leeds, Newcastle, West Ham and Villa in the remaining 4 weeks of play, with a match postponed against wolves, which was programmed in GW36. Cancelo has been one of the best performing players in FPL this season in total 202 FPL points – the 4th highest in the championship.

4. Aymeric Laporte (6 million)
Man City’s defense is worth doubling down on, especially now that their DGW in GW36 has been announced. They have suffered the least xGC all season and are ranked 2nd for the most number of times clean sheets (19). There is no room for complacency as City battle for the title, so Laporte is likely to play most of the remaining minutes of the season.
5. Nuno Tavares (4.3 million)
With Tierney out injured, Tavares is the only natural LB available for selection. Though he looks shaky at times, the 22-year-old has started Arsenal’s last three games. He scored a goal against Manchester United in GW34 and hopes to carry out some of that form. Tavares’ 7 shots in the last 3 games they are second to Arsenal, with 5 of them coming from inside the area. The Portuguese also has created 3 chances and had 11 touches in the opponent’s area – both 3rd highest among his teammates.
Alternatives
- Liverpool Defender – Andrea Robertson (7.3 million) / Virgil Van Dijk (6.8 million)
- Mattia Cash (Aston Villa) – 5.2 million
- Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace) – 4.5 million
- Caglar Soyuncu (Leicester City) – 4.9 million
- Ben Davies (Tottenham) – 4.4 million
FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 35 Wildcard: Midfielders
1. Mohammed Salah (13.3 million)
LiverpoolThe interesting double week of play in GW36 combined with Salah’s fitness makes the Egyptian a must-have on a wildcard.
2. Dejan Kulusevski (6.4 million)
Looking purely at the fixtures, Tottenham doesn’t seem like a team worth going to. Their recent form has also dropped dramatically, losing points in their last 2 league games and failing to even register a single shot on goal. However, despite all of this, Spurs have managed to create something out of nothing on multiple occasions this season. Kulusevski has he scored 3 and assisted 7 in just 13 appearances since joining in January. It’s nearly half the price of both Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane, yet he was still a notable part of the trio.
3. Bukayo Saka (6.8 million)
Saka has had a few seasons for Arsenal. The 20-year-old bagged 11 goals and 5 other assists and it doesn’t look like it’s done yet. He was equally good in FPL, scoring 164 FPL points including 6 memorable double-digit hits. Arsenal play a double week of play in GW36, against Leeds and rivals from north London, spurs. There could be quite a few goals in both of these draws and Saka is arguably the best bet of all Arsenal options.

4. Mason Mount (7.7 million)
Set up he has had a great season so far, hitting double digits in both goals (10) and assists (10). He is also the tallest in both respects among his teammates. With 28 appearances for ChelseaMount has played the most minutes over any other attacking midfielder, which is pretty good considering how much rotation there has been on that front.
Plus, the 23-year-old had more shots on goal (26), key passes (47), great chances created (9) and touches in the opponent’s area (111), on any other Chelsea player. Clearly, he was pivotal to the future of the Blues and the club’s upcoming games make him an important player to own for the next few weeks.
5. Anthony Gordon (4.6 million)
Everton has such a large date list, but their recent performances have seemed far from convincing. They are currently sitting in 18th place on the table and are hoping to get out of the hole as soon as possible. As for the FPL options on that team, there aren’t many and a budget enabler like Gordon is probably your best bet. The 21-year-old is priced at just 4.6 million but plays as a winger for the Toffees. In the last 5 weeks of play, Gordon has created 8 occasions, including 2 great occasions – a team leader total. He also ranks 2nd at Everton highest for shots in the box (4) And touches in the opponent’s area (19) in that time.
Alternatives
- Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – 11.9 million
- Heung Min son (Tottenham) – 11 million
- Leicester City Midfielder – Harvey Barnes (6.6 million) / Giacomo Maddison (7 million)
- Philippe Coutinho (Aston Villa) – 7 million
- Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) – 5.6 million
FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 35 Wildcard: forwards
1. Ollie Watkins (7.4 million)
Aston Villa has emerged as a team to be targeted, especially on a free hit. Lions play Norwich at home in GW35, then have 2 consecutive doubles play weeks in GW36 and GW37. Villa hasn’t achieved a win in the last 5 games, but fans will be optimistic about the possibility of solving it in the next few games. In those games, Watkins was the only spark for a generally quiet team. Villa only scored two goals and Watkins contributed to one of those goals, with a xG of 2.41. It ranks first at Villa for shots (14), shots on goal (6)And touches in the opponent’s area (38).
2. Teemu Pukki (6 million)
The striker market has been pretty boring for most of the season, which leads us to do so Norwich cityis the main man. The “Pukki partySeems like a distant memory and the Finnish international has not lived up to that status for a while. However, in recent weeks, Pukki has quietly added PL to his goal / assists tally.

With 4 goals and 2 assists in the last 6 appearances, Pukki has emerged as someone worth considering before GW35. Norwich tackles Aston Villa in GW35, followed by a brace in GW36 against West Ham and Leicester. Obviously, the Canaries are huge underdogs in this tie. However, considering his form, these are 3 games in which Pukki can return a fair amount of points.
3. Eddie Nketiah (5.5 million)
Nketiah completes a slightly underwhelming frontline for the wildcard draft, which in all fairness was expected due to a lack of decent options. The 22-year-old took out his phone like Arsenal took an unexpected 3 points at Stamford Bridge. This comes in to replace Lacazzetta in GW33, Nketiah has he started all 3 games, conceding 2 goals for the Gunners. He also put the ball in the net against Manchester United also, even if it was not allowed.
Bukayo Saka steals the show when it comes to Arsenal forwards, but Nketiah has been comparing decent base stats. It ranks second for shots in the box (6), big chances (2)And touches in the opponent’s penalty area (19). Arteta has been full of praise for Nketiah’s performance, so he should be leading in the upcoming games as well.
Alternatives
- Harry Kane (Tottenham) – 12.5 million
- Richarlison (Everton) – 7.5 million
- Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace) – 5.3 million
FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 35 Wildcard: Complete team and strategy
Gameweek Plan 35

It should be a relatively straightforward squad selection for GW35. Salah takes the armband considering he’s the most valuable player in the squad and there aren’t many other standout options. There is a debate as to who starts between Pukki (against Villa) e Nketiah (against West Ham). It is worth knowing that West Ham will miss all of their CBs against Arsenal, due to injuries and suspension. The defense will likely be significantly weakened, which is why Nketiah starts here.
Gameweek 36 double deck

It is truly a beautiful sight. Each player will play twice in this draft, creating a great bench boost. Salah will probably take the armband againbut Mason Mount or one of Alexander-Arnold / Cancelo are both decent screams.
