The publisher has had some successes and many mistakes over the past few years.  But this new game aims to continue the positive momentum following the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.<\/p>\n<p>For the most part, it is successful in that goal.  This is even though this is a cheap title rather than the traditional AAA version that gamers will expect from EA. The game takes place not long after the events of <em>Return of the Jedi<\/em>.  The emperor is dead and the imperial forces are on the run.  Meanwhile, the nascent New Republic is attempting to take control and establish itself as the government of the galaxy.  It&#8217;s an interesting setting and explores an era that is largely untouched in the world of Star Wars.  And by associating with the original trilogy, it&#8217;s appealing to both new and old fans alike.<\/p>\n<p>Another unique aspect of Star Wars: Squadrons is that the story doesn&#8217;t just focus on one protagonist.  Instead, the narrative changes between what players might traditionally see as the good guys and the bad guys.  Throughout the story, players will take control of both a New Republic pilot and Imperial navies.  What this does is give players a different perspective on events. It&#8217;s pretty short compared to many other titles, but still packed with quality.  As a budget title, Star Wars: Squadrons does not feature fictional cutscenes and interactive dialogue.  However, the story adds a lot of motivation to move forward and provides context to the gameplay.  Perhaps the best thing about the campaign, though, is the compelling cast of characters it introduces.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Game<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649351799_111_Star-Wars-Squadron-Review.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33790\"  ><\/figure>\n<p>There have been two types of space combat games set in the Star Wars universe.  Games like 1998&#8217;s Star Wars: Rogue Squadron are more arcade-based and emphasize fast-paced action.  Then there are the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series, which debuted in the early 1990s.  These titles have focused on creating a realistic and authentic simulation of what piloting these aircraft would be like.<\/p><div id=\"forum-1524662287\" class=\"forum-content-3 forum-entity-placement\">\t\t<div class=\"ad-wrapper\" style=\"width:100%;min-height:250px;text-align:center\">\r\n\t\t\t<!-- In Article Blog -->\r\n\t\t\t<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n\t\t\t\t style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3476569516614521\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-slot=\"9829044906\"><\/ins>\r\n\t\t\t<script>\r\n\t\t\t\t (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Star Wars: Squadrons tends much more to the latter.  What it means for the player is that this game is not a walk in the park.  There is a lot of information to acquire as you will need to manage every aspect of your vessel&#8217;s functions. <\/p>\n<p>For the most part, this revolves around balancing the various systems.  Each situation requires different tools, forcing you to divert power where appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>Do you need to overcome an enemy or join your team?  So it sends extra power to the engine.  Go into battle against an enemy with much more firepower, though, and you&#8217;ll want to upgrade your shields.<\/p>\n<p><center class=\"native_ad\"><\/p>\n<p>\t<!-- Composite Start --><\/p>\n<p>\t<!-- Composite End --><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Much of the Star Wars Squadron gameplay centers around this delicate balancing act.  Outside of the core of the piloting issue, Star Wars Squadrons is basically a game about learning each ship&#8217;s strengths and weaknesses. <\/p>\n<p>The campaign does a great job introducing the player to every mechanic and feature.  So, before getting into multiplayer, you should have a good understanding of the basics.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also a good thing, because the online modes are even more challenging.  There are only two modes to choose from, although there is a good variety in terms of maps and ships.  Fleet Battles joins the classic Deathmatch mode, adding a level of strategy and complexity to the process.  Ultimately, there is something for everyone, whether you want a quick, intense battle or a dramatic tactical skirmish. <\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Presentation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"466\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649351799_113_Star-Wars-Squadron-Review.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33791\"  ><\/figure>\n<p>There is a good argument to be made that Star Wars: Squadrons is the best looking game based on the franchise.  The fact that much of the action takes place in space may have helped him.  But Motive has created a beautiful looking game.<\/p>\n<p>There is an enormous amount of detail throughout the iconic spaceships, cockpits and locations.  This brings everything in the game to life, properly immersing you in the world.  It&#8217;s impressive how good the game looks considering it&#8217;s not a full-price version.<\/p>\n<p>The soundtrack is equally outstanding throughout the campaign.  Composer Gordy Haab managed to capture the essence of John Williams&#8217; magnificent orchestral soundtrack from the films.<\/p>\n<p>However, it also added its own twist and introduced some new themes.  This ensures that the soundtrack feels like an addition to the series rather than simply derivative.  In terms of sound design, the effects are all authentic and instantly take you back to classic movies.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Final verdict<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"440\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649351799_324_Star-Wars-Squadron-Review.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33792\"  ><\/figure>\n<p>Star Wars: Squadrons proves that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order wasn&#8217;t just a flash in the pan.  The publisher is clearly capable of releasing quality Star Wars games, in a variety of different genres.<\/p>\n<p>The sheer quality of this game should also give fans hope that future releases will be just as impressive.  There&#8217;s a great story, great multiplayer action, and a superb presentation.  Ultimately, this makes Star Wars: Squadrons a must for any Star Wars fan.
