Developer Sucker Punch has already worked on series like Infamous, but this change of direction has wowed fans.  It is the latest title in what has been a renaissance for single player games.  But how does it compare to competitors like Marvel&#8217;s Spider-Man and The Last of Us Part 2?  The truth is, Ghost of Tsushima is another great PS4 action adventure game that demands attention.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>History<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Ghost-of-Tsushima-review.jpg\" alt=\"History |  Ghost of Tsushima review |  Gammicks.com\" class=\"wp-image-31196\"  ><\/figure>\n<p>Ghost of Tsushima is named after Tsushima Island, the place where the action takes place.  Set in the late 13th century, the story centers on a samurai warrior named Jin Sakai.  The fighter is the last of his clan and works with a variety of allies to fight Kublai Khan and his Mongol forces.  Starting off as an honorable samurai, the narrative sees Jin evolve as he tries to do the right thing.  Through recruiting Tsushima residents, he begins to use unconventional techniques and tactics to fight the Mongols who invade his home.<\/p><div id=\"forum-2610739961\" class=\"forum-content-2 forum-entity-placement\">\t\t<div class=\"ad-wrapper\" style=\"width:100%;min-height:250px;text-align:center\">\r\n\t\t\t<!-- In Article Blog -->\r\n\t\t\t<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n\t\t\t\t style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3476569516614521\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-slot=\"9829044906\"><\/ins>\r\n\t\t\t<script>\r\n\t\t\t\t (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Ghost of Tsushima strikes a good balance between being a realistic historical tale and a fun fictional story.  Jin&#8217;s adventure isn&#8217;t something that actually happened.  But the general narrative offers a good overview of the conflict and the main forces involved.  It also has many exciting moments and delves deep into samurai culture.  There is a big chance that you will come out of Ghost of Tsushima satisfied with the storyline for this reason.<\/p>\n<p>Also try to tell an emotional story.  While not always successful, Ghost of Tsushima tries to delve into Jin&#8217;s character.  The developers clearly wanted players to be involved in the transformation of Jin&#8217;s character when he becomes the Phantom.  There are certainly some moments when this works and you can glimpse the turmoil that the samurai is suffering.  However, this is rare and the title fails to get you emphasized with the characters. In fact, there are so many different techniques and attacks to use that players are sure to find one that works for them.  As Jin&#8217;s legend grows, even more abilities are unlocked, giving you the freedom to play however you want.  Matching the dual nature of the character&#8217;s personality, the combat also has various styles.  There are traditional samurai techniques, which tend to be more defensive, as do ghost moves.  These involve more stealth-based attacks than you might find in Assassin&#8217;s Creed games.  Being able to switch between locations works well and keeps things interesting and fresh.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to the various fighting styles, the weapons in this game are surprisingly simple.  While there are a few extra items to complement your abilities, most of the action revolves around just your sword and bow.  The developers managed to capture the essence of what it must have been like to use a samurai sword.  The fights alternate between slow and careful duels to frantic battles.  Often times, the action can feel like you&#8217;re just in control, with the barrage of moves overwhelming.  However, things never seem to completely slip out of your grasp. Exploration plays a big part in the game and there is a lot of motivation to go out and see the world.  For example, listening to enemies can help you plan your assaults and choose the best strategy.  Stealth mechanics also come into play, giving Jin the opportunity to be less honorable and more practical.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Presentation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649414797_373_Ghost-of-Tsushima-review.jpg\" alt=\"Presentation |  Ghost of Tsushima review |  Gammicks.com\" class=\"wp-image-31198\"  ><\/figure>\n<p>A few words are enough to describe the presentation in Ghost of Tsushima.  It is simply stunning.  The landscapes are beautiful to look at, with each setting being detailed and lush.  Among the many titles released in recent years, Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most surprising.  Watching the world leads to images that could easily make great posters every single turn.  In particular, lighting and shadows are a more impressive work of art than almost any other game.<\/p>\n<p>Technically, Ghost of Tsushima also works well.  There are some noticeable dips in frame rate during hectic moments.  However, they are far from revolutionary and cause no real problems.  Lightning-fast loading times and lack of bugs and glitches make this title a smooth game.  Of course, the samurai title is also pretty great in the audio department.  A great soundtrack accompanies each action while there are many superb sound effects. <\/p>\n<h2><strong>Final verdict<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"499\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649414797_306_Ghost-of-Tsushima-review.jpg\" alt=\"Final verdict |  Ghost of Tsushima review |  Gammicks.com\" class=\"wp-image-31199\"  ><\/figure>\n<p>2020 has been something of a vintage year for PlayStation 4. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been a number of high-profile releases for the console.  It&#8217;s almost as if the hardware is playing a great swan song before being replaced in the next few months.<\/p>\n<p>Ghost of Tsushima is another example of this pattern.  While it has some drawbacks, it is undoubtedly an outstanding game.  The title is also one of the most satisfying to play, especially thanks to sword-based hand-to-hand combat.  Few games can feel this impact or make you feel like a real fighter.
