While the original game showed some promise, it has more things wrong than right.  The Division was criticized for being too repetitive and lacking in meaningful content when it launched.  However, none of these factors prevented it from being a huge commercial success.  A sequel was virtually guaranteed after its strong launch. <\/p>\n<p>The real question is whether Ubisoft would be able to tackle the problems of the first game?  If the publisher wants to create a successful franchise, it&#8217;s important to make sure the sequel is a definitive improvement.  Otherwise, the best games would leave it behind. Not much has changed in terms of general mechanics.  Enemies still act like bullet sponges for the most part.  Except this time you have to chip their armor before you can kill them. <\/p>\n<p>This adds a slight twist to the first game&#8217;s formula but doesn&#8217;t really solve the problem.  You can say the same about the basic mission structure as well.  Almost every business follows the same basic structure. There are so many different accessories and tools that you can create any type of build you want.  Fantastic customization options also mean you can make your character unique.  You can swap out virtually any piece of clothing to create a unique look.  While you need to go through each item&#8217;s stats to get the most out of your gear, it&#8217;s not necessary for most players.  In fact, The Division 2 encourages you to experiment with different attachments to see what works best for you.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Ubisoft has made things better when it comes to endgame content.  There is now a full-fledged PvP multiplayer mode for those who don&#8217;t want to stick to cooperative play.  However, the best content comes in the post-credits campaign.  Now you have to fight against the Black Tusk organization.  Players can choose new specializations, which significantly alter the way you play.  The Washington DC areas have been completely reworked to keep everything fresh and exciting. The world is still trying to recover from the Green Poison attack which released a devastating man-made virus.  Washington DC was abandoned by the government, leaving control to the division&#8217;s agents.<\/p>\n<p><center class=\"native_ad\"><\/p>\n<p>\t<!-- Composite Start --><\/p>\n<p>\t<!-- Composite End --><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>At the start of the game, you and the Joint Task Force are fighting to maintain authority in the area.  In opposition there are three main groups of enemies.  They include a collection of criminal gangs, former paramilitary soldiers and fighters, and a group of insane quarantine survivors. <\/p>\n<p>The whole campaign lasts from 20 to 30 hours in total.  Unfortunately, the storyline loses focus pretty soon.  Rather than being a cohesive story, it feels more like these are separate campaigns stitched together.  The fact that most missions involve going to a new location and defeating enemies doesn&#8217;t help.  Another complaint is that history drags its feet.  While this is a way to cut down on playtime, it does mean that delivery of important plot points is painfully slow.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"539\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649581078_795_The-Division-2-review.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27582\"  ><\/figure>\n<h2>Presentation<\/h2>\n<p>Washington DC comes to life in a way that no other game has been able to.  It is impressive to travel through different areas and see these iconic monuments faithfully recreated.  The attention to detail is astounding and something many other developers could learn from. <\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of sound design.  While music can be truly great, it&#8217;s too rare to add real intensity.  Meanwhile, the voice acting is bland and flat.  There is no extraordinary performance that leaves a lasting impression.  Thankfully, the sound effects are slightly better.  For example, the roar of explosions and gunfire are satisfying. <\/p>\n<p>For such an action-packed game, where something always happens, it technically holds up surprisingly well.  The frame rate rarely stutters and I only encountered a few minor glitches.  Compared to many other games where bugs and glitches can ruin the fun, The Division 2 comes out positively. <\/p>\n<h2>Final verdict<\/h2>\n<p>The Division 2 builds perfectly on the foundations laid by its predecessor.  There are a lot of improvements and it will likely keep a lot of players coming back for more.  Despite that, there are still some issues that keep this game from being truly great.  Players have complained about the repetitive missions and bullet sponge enemies of the original game.  These problems still persist, and Ubisoft has done little to address them.<\/p>\n<p>Still, for the most part, this sequel is a constant improvement.  The core mechanics still work fine, and the changes to the endgame content are worth it.
