With September 7 around the corner, all eyes are currently on Apple and rumors and leaks have spilled over to the new iPhone 14 line. Several rumors have focused on Cupertino’s alleged new double-cutout design for the camera. selfie and Face ID hardware. The prevailing opinion currently appears to be that there will be a system in place to obscure the pixels between the two cutouts and make the entire area appear as a solid piece. Allegedly, Apple has decided to implement this feature for both aesthetic and functional reasons. The area between the two cutouts will likely be reserved for the new privacy indicators, which arrived with iOS 14. Shows when an app is actively using the device’s microphone or cameras. This could free up the corners of the display to fit more status icons.<\/p>\n

According to recent rumors, Apple will be using the new cutout to redesign the status bar exclusively for the iPhone 14. Several renderings have emerged that suggest Cupertino may revert to a more classic design. Other industry sources have also suggested that Apple will rework its camera app interface to better place controls around the new cutouts. Specifically, the flash and Live Photo buttons will be at the top of the status bar, with other settings placed just below the cutouts.<\/p>\n

It is still unclear, however, whether the decision to have the clippings “joined” by black pixels will be a permanent user setting at the system level or there will be some use cases, such as watching videos, for example, when pixels between the two clippings will continue to display the actual content. It remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

The iPhone 14 family is still mostly shrouded in mystery in typical Cupertino fashion. We’re not even entirely sure what naming convention Apple will use, with rumors suggesting a possible return of the “Plus” moniker, which could mean the following lineup: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Maximum.<\/p>\n
