The measurements made are for fidelity, white point color and gamma coverage.  We perform color assessments for different lighting conditions to see how well the device can handle color in its surroundings.  Colors are measured using a spectrophotometer in a controlled lighting environment.  The perceptual analysis of the color rendering is compared to the reference model displayed on a calibrated professional monitor.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In our lab tests, the S22 Ultra (Exynos) demonstrates good overall color fidelity, as shown in t<span style=\"letter-spacing: 0.35px;\">the graph at the bottom left.  It is better than the S21 Ultra (Exynos) and comparable to OnePlus 9 Pro. The center of each circle is the target color;  anything outside the circle represents a noticeable difference in color.  The further the arrowhead is outside the circle, the more users will notice the difference between the color on the display and the color of the actual object or graphic next to it. We measure the tone mapping, color gamut, brightness and contrast of the display.  We perform perceptual analysis Cons our professional reference monitor (Sony BVM-HX310) to ensure that the rendering respects the artistic intent.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col large-12\"><\/div>\n<p>The device we started our tests with showed a serious problem affecting the video playback of the display.  Meanwhile, on February 25, Samsung released a firmware update that fixed the widespread problem.  This review reflects the test results of the updated firmware.<\/p>\n<p>The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (Exynos) offers very good overall video performance, with good brightness, good contrast management (albeit slightly dark in dark tones) and good color rendering. Frame drops, motion blur, and playback artifacts are investigated using games and videos.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For motion, although it handles frame drops a little better than its predecessor during gaming, the S22 Ultra (Exynos) scores lower than the S21 Ultra 5G (Exynos) and its competitors due to frame drops during video playback. The S22 Ultra (Exynos) showed a little more accuracy along the edges when we tested it after turning it off <em>protection from accidental contact<\/em> mode (on by default), but the improvement was not particularly significant.<\/p>\n<p>While not part of our protocol, our engineers also tested the touch response of the S22 Ultra (Exynos) using its S Pen;  report that touching with the S Pen is both pleasant and precise.<\/p>\n<div class=\"info-box\">\n<div>\n<p>How the Display Artifacts score is composed<\/p>\n<div class=\"info-box-content\">\n<p>Evaluating artifacts means checking performance, image rendering, and motion defects that can affect the end-user experience.  SBMARK accurately measures device reflectance and the presence of flickering and evaluates the impact of residual aliasing when playing video games, among other characteristics. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The flicker control remains the same on the S22 Ultra (Exynos) and the older S21 Ultra (Exynos), meaning if you are sensitive to flicker, you may want to avoid this device.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col large-12\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Ghost touches are very common, with or without the <em>protection from accidental contact<\/em> option activated.
