This venerable old game was once just a classic gaming memory for RPG fans.  Now, an improved addition is available on Steam and also on iOS, which means you can enjoy this game on the go.<\/p>\n<p>Originally released in 1999, the improved edition of Planescape: Torment came out in 2017. It is important to clarify exactly what this means.<\/p>\n<p>First, nothing new has actually been added.  This is a good thing for Planescape purists who might have feared it would receive the kind of unnecessary additions received by the improved version of Baldur&#8217;s Gate.  <\/p><div id=\"forum-3462745217\" class=\"forum-content forum-entity-placement\">\t\t<div class=\"ad-wrapper\" style=\"width:100%;min-height:250px;text-align:center\">\r\n\t\t\t<!-- In Article Blog -->\r\n\t\t\t<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n\t\t\t\t style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3476569516614521\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-slot=\"9829044906\"><\/ins>\r\n\t\t\t<script>\r\n\t\t\t\t (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<p>For better or for worse, what you get here is the original game with clean graphics.  And if you don&#8217;t like those brighter graphics, you can always turn them off and enjoy the game exactly as it looked in 1999.<\/p>\n<p>If you <em>do<\/em> you want to change the gaming experience, the Enhanced Edition supports mods, just like the old one.  However, the old mods won&#8217;t work &#8211; you&#8217;ll have to download something new.  And of course, these mods only work on the PC version of the game. Basically, you need to click on almost everything.  Click on the ground to move, click on friends to talk, click on enemies to fight and so on.<\/p>\n<p>In theory, this is one of the things that makes this game such a friendly port for iOS.  Instead of using a clunky on-screen controller, just let your fingers walk your iPhone or iPad.<\/p>\n<p>However, fingers are typically less precise than a mouse.  You may run into problems during combat, especially when you need to change targets quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, however, the PC to iOS transfer is surprisingly smooth.<\/p>\n<h2>Not suitable for newbies<\/h2>\n<p>Do you know how the games are said to be much more difficult &#8220;at the time?&#8221;  What they usually refer to are tutorials (or the lack thereof).<\/p>\n<p>A modern RPG is more likely to hold your hand and guide you through character building, equipment, combat, and so on.  Planescape, however, does none of this!<\/p>\n<p>Basically you are simply catapulted directly into a strange adventure.  And while this suits your character (who wakes up as a not quite dead dude with a case of amnesia), it can be frustrating as a player.<\/p>\n<p><center class=\"native_ad\"><\/p>\n<p>\t<!-- Composite Start --><\/p>\n<p>\t<!-- Composite End --><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong &#8211; this game is absolutely worth your time to play.  Get ready to use some walkthroughs and character building guides to help you get started!  <\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649879797_389_Planescape-Review-of-the-Torment.jpg\" alt=\"Planescape: Torment Review |  Gammick\" class=\"wp-image-3153\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h2>History of bioware<\/h2>\n<p>Depending on your game story, the storytelling in this game might seem very familiar.  Why?  Why is Bioware at its best!<\/p>\n<p>While some of their more recent games have been a bit of a disappointment (I&#8217;m watching you, Anthem, and Mass Effect: Andromeda), this game is reminiscent of when the company was just catching on.  And in this game, you can see the seeds of what would make future titles like Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect so thrilling.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, Planescape: Torment is dense with text.  This is due to both massive world construction and the insane amount of dialogue options.  While this adds to the fun factor and replay value of the game, the fact that it has more text than a small textbook may be a problem for some players.<\/p>\n<p>By now, the dialogue system will be familiar to many players: when interacting with NPCs or party members, you can choose from several responses.  And these responses perform two primary functions.<\/p>\n<p>First and foremost, they are the key ingredient in your role-playing game.  Will your character be a likeable civil servant or a selfish and violent thug?  Only your reactions to other characters can determine the answer.<\/p>\n<p>Second, your choices also have a real impact on the story.  You can talk to get out of battles or in battles, and the game isn&#8217;t afraid to give you some very difficult moral choices without easy answers.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649879797_228_Planescape-Review-of-the-Torment.jpg\" alt=\"Planescape: Torment Review |  Gammick\" class=\"wp-image-3155\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Party<\/h2>\n<p>Not to forget, Planescape: Torment is a <em>Dungeons and Dragons<\/em> game.  And those adventures are never meant for just one person.<\/p>\n<p>In this game, you recruit a variety of characters to help you battle baddies and solve a series of intriguing mysteries.  Fortunately, great writing and voice acting help the characters to be more than just a fantasy archetype.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve played something like KOTOR or Mass Effect or Dragon Age, this will look very familiar to you.  And I&#8217;m happy to say that the characters in this game are as complex and enriched as those in Bioware&#8217;s other games.<\/p>\n<h2>Final verdict<\/h2>\n<p>Even if you&#8217;re not a Bioware or RPG addict, Planescape: Torment is worth checking out.
