While Infinite is a radically different game, it still fits in well with the series.  The player leaves the underwater city of Rapture in exchange for the flying city of Colombia.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, with this drastic change comes a narrative with a different tone and a new perspective. It serves as a reminder of the main character&#8217;s goal, as well as a tantalizing mystery. The goal is simple enough to explain.  However, the execution is much more complicated.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Infinite-BioShock-Review.jpg\" alt=\"BioShock's Infinite Review |  Gammick\" class=\"wp-image-2956\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Booker DeWitt may be the playable character, but the narrative doesn&#8217;t focus entirely on him.  Although he has a much wider presence in Infinite than Jack in BioShock.  This is good, as Booker is pretty cool.  However, the girl he is supposed to save is the real star of the show.<\/p><div id=\"forum-153813590\" class=\"forum-content-3 forum-entity-placement\">\t\t<div class=\"ad-wrapper\" style=\"width:100%;min-height:250px;text-align:center\">\r\n\t\t\t<!-- In Article Blog -->\r\n\t\t\t<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n\t\t\t\t style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3476569516614521\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-slot=\"9829044906\"><\/ins>\r\n\t\t\t<script>\r\n\t\t\t\t (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Elizabeth is a young woman who has been locked up in a tower all her life.  Watching her interact with the outside world for the first time is fascinating.  And it is touching to see Elizabeth become wise about the bad habits of the world.  The shared adventure between Elizabeth and DeWitt goes to crazy places that leave your mind wavering.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Lost plot points<\/h2>\n<p>The first half of BioShock Infinite is great.  The world is beautiful and seems to be heading towards a gritty discussion on heavy topics.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, that&#8217;s where it stops for the most part.  The game almost immediately creates plot points that deal with controversial topics such as racism, nationalism and religion.  But these are largely abandoned by the second half of the game.  <\/p>\n<p>BioShock easily painted issues and philosophies such as Objectivism.  Infinite shuns the issues that give flavor and thought to his first act.  While they appear and play minor roles throughout the story, the narrative instead focuses more on the science fiction adventure.  This is personally disappointing: the narrative is on the safe side by sticking to Elizabeth&#8217;s story.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649956911_104_Infinite-BioShock-Review.jpg\" alt=\"BioShock's Infinite Review |  Gammick\" class=\"wp-image-2719\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Game<\/h2>\n<p>There is no doubt that Infinite is fun to play.  It is a simple and easy to learn game along the same lines as BioShock.  You have some great options to choose from in the weapons category.  You also have the plasmid companion, called &#8220;Vigors&#8221; in BioShock Infinite.<\/p>\n<p><center class=\"native_ad\"><\/p>\n<p>\t<!-- Composite Start --><\/p>\n<p>\t<!-- Composite End --><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p>The vigors are familiar for the most part.  They give you powers that are useful in combat and can create accurate play styles.  Whether you&#8217;re throwing fireballs or covering an enemy with ravens, combat is fun.<\/p>\n<p>A great addition to BioShock Infinite is the &#8220;skyhook&#8221;.  The skyhook has two valuable mechanisms.  Allows Booker to melee enemies effectively.  More importantly, it also allows the player to cross the skyline.  <\/p>\n<p>The skyline is a railway system that runs throughout Colombia.  With the push of a button, the player jumps onto the railing and blasts across the battlefield.  From here you can shoot enemies or position yourself better on the ground.  <\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Enemies<\/h2>\n<p>In BioShock Infinite, you fight a good range of enemies.  The standard enemy could be a Colombian lawyer, a Vox Populi radicalist, and even the Colombian equivalent of a splicer.  These are your usual enemy fodder, but there is a lot more to the game. <\/p>\n<p>Booker collides with motorized handymen: huge, sad creatures of flesh and metal that make a punch.  Robots in the form of presidents of the United States appear at various points in the game.  Some supernatural enemies are also featured in Infinite.  They allow the player more variety in combat situations and keep things fresh.  <\/p>\n<h2>A good partner<\/h2>\n<p>The quickest way to kill momentum in a game is to present an escort mission.  BioShock Infinite is one of the games that has realized that escorting NPCs is a bad time for players.  Therefore, the developers decided to make Elizabeth a real asset to DeWitt in combat.  She is able to find items such as money and ammo to offer the player during the battle.  This also applies to the occasional pistol.<\/p>\n<p>But its true power comes in the form of tears in reality.  Using these tears, Elizabeth is able to actually carry defensive items that the player can use.  She can also summon offensively, using turrets to turn the tide of combat.  Plus, she can&#8217;t be hurt at any time, which is great.  <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/1649956911_779_Infinite-BioShock-Review.jpg\" alt=\"The history of Bioshock Infinite |  Infinite Bioshock Review |  GAMMICKS\" class=\"wp-image-2718\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h2>Placement<\/h2>\n<p>BioShock Infinite has a lot going for it when it comes to setting and atmosphere.  BioShock&#8217;s Rapture is one of the most iconic gaming locations in recent memory.  Therefore, it is only natural that Colombia is held to the same standards.  While the flying city doesn&#8217;t reach the same level of hype as Rapture, it&#8217;s still a fantastic setting.<\/p>\n<p>Colombia is gorgeous and presented in a cinematic way.  Collectables found throughout the game add to the background of the city more.  Locations within Colombia can range from cheerful and warm to eerie and tense.  Honestly, it&#8217;s easy to imagine that many people will prefer vibrant Colombia to sad Rapture any day.  <\/p>\n<h2>Final verdict<\/h2>\n<p>BioShock Infinite isn&#8217;t a perfect game, but that doesn&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s bad at all.  It is fantastic at its best and average at its absolute worst.  The worst is an annoying boss who gets recycled three times.<\/p>\n<p>However, the great moments and characters of BioShock Infinite completely overshadow it.
