It creates realistic copies of bank input forms and then, after the unsuspecting user enters the necessary data, sends the compromised data to a malicious server.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_185822\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-185822\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-185822\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Bank-account-you-risk-losing-all-your-money-beware-of.jpg\" alt=\"bank account scam\" width=\"1280\" height=\"750\"  \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-185822\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source Photo Canva<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>More recently, <strong>SharkBot has been deleted from Google Play,<\/strong> when he removed six <strong>different antivirus apps<\/strong> downloading and installing malware on the phones of unsuspecting users who, ironically, were just trying to protect themselves from viruses and theft.  The six apps have been <strong>downloaded at least 15,000 times by users in Italy<\/strong> and in the UK before their removal.<\/p><div id=\"forum-2912737653\" class=\"forum-content forum-entity-placement\">\t\t<div class=\"ad-wrapper\" style=\"width:100%;min-height:250px;text-align:center\">\r\n\t\t\t<!-- In Article Blog -->\r\n\t\t\t<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n\t\t\t\t style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3476569516614521\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-slot=\"9829044906\"><\/ins>\r\n\t\t\t<script>\r\n\t\t\t\t (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<p>While Android-specific malware isn&#8217;t new, there are a few <strong>unique features of Sharkbot<\/strong> which distinguish it from <strong>other trojans, remembering that malware today also hides in applications such as whatsapp.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First, it has a <strong>geofencing function<\/strong> which allows it to target users based on their geographic area.  More recently, they have been Fr<strong>returns targeting UK and Italian users,<\/strong> but users from China, Russia, Ukraine, India, Romania and Belarus were ignored.<\/p><div id=\"forum-2272541370\" class=\"forum-content-3 forum-entity-placement\">\t\t<div class=\"ad-wrapper\" style=\"width:100%;min-height:250px;text-align:center\">\r\n\t\t\t<!-- In Article Blog -->\r\n\t\t\t<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n\t\t\t\t style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3476569516614521\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-slot=\"9829044906\"><\/ins>\r\n\t\t\t<script>\r\n\t\t\t\t (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<p>SharkBot also uses a <strong>Domain Generated Algorithm (DGA),<\/strong> which is unusual in malware focused on <strong>android. <\/strong> Using DGA, <strong>SharkBot generates seven domains for each hardcoded seed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Sharkbot, so it empties your bank account<\/h2>\n<p>The researchers found eight different seed\/algorithm combinations, <strong>providing 56 domains per week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SharkBot also uses <strong>over 22 commands on infected androids. <\/strong> It also includes requesting permission to send SMS messages, uninstalling other applications.<\/p>\n<p>Only time will tell which are the<strong> effective long-term damage of this malware<\/strong>.  While <strong>Google has made significant progress<\/strong> in <strong>malware reduction<\/strong> and other malicious apps on Google Play, this latest case with SharkBot shows that the <strong>hackers are just getting better at information fishing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SharkBot is a great reminder that <strong>in the end we are all responsible for our cyber security<\/strong> and that it is up to users to research apps (even from reputable brands) before downloading them.  Practicing safe cyber hygiene so that you are not vulnerable in shark infested waters is crucial!<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>banking trojan<\/strong> of remote access <strong>SharkBot<\/strong> it was first spotted in October 2021. Security researchers discovered it and concluded that it was one of a kind.
