Apple and Samsung launched location tags and now Google is looking to join their company. According to A Kuba Wojciechowski<\/i> And Mishaal Rahman<\/i>Fast Pair developer console’s survey of the Fast Pair feature now has a “location tag” as a device listed. The code name of the product is \u201cGrogu\u201d, \u201cGroguaudio\u201d or \u201cGR10\u201d.<\/p>\n

The product is developed by the Nest team, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a Nest product. The gadget has a built-in speaker and comes with support for UWB (ultra wide band) and Bluetooth Low Energy which are technologies used for radio communication for short range usage scenarios.<\/p>\n

Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro both have a UWB module that hasn’t been used so far. It could be used to turn Nest speakers on and off, but the feature is still under development. Google is also working with chipset manufacturers to enable Fast Pair support for Android products, allowing each manufacturer to develop its own trackers.<\/p>\n

A possible Google Grogu tag could be announced as early as Google I\/O, which traditionally takes place in May.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
