The device surpassed its predecessor, the Nubia RedMagic 7 Pro, with better runtimes and efficiency, mainly thanks to a larger battery.<\/p>\n<p>The battery life of the Nubia RedMagic 8 Pro lasted 2.5 days in our tests when used moderately.  It performed particularly well when idle with the screen on, which provided excellent battery life in most test cases, especially when playing games or streaming video. Recharging the battery from empty to full took less than 47 minutes, and a 5-minute quick charge provided more than 7 hours of battery life.  The 65W charger&#8217;s use of a new charging protocol that slows down the time it takes to fully recharge the 6000mAH battery should help preserve the battery life and performance of the device.<\/p>\n<p>Adapter efficiency was the best we&#8217;ve ever measured, and overall charging efficiency was also outstanding.  However, the charger&#8217;s residual power consumption was a bit high and above the average in our database.  Finally, the discharge currents were low when streaming video or idling with the screen on, meaning that the device was optimized for these test cases.
