The South Korean conglomerate handled 73.7 million shipments in the January-March period and secured 24% of the global smartphone market share.  A total of 311.2 million smartphones were shipped for the period, 11% less than in the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Canalys-Samsung-shipped-737-million-smartphones-worldwide-in-the-first.jpg\" alt=\"Canalys: Samsung shipped 73.7 million smartphones worldwide in the first quarter of 2022\"><\/p>\n<p>Apple came in second with 56.5 million shipments with an 18% market share, while also boasting the top five companies&#8217; only annual growth at 8%. The shortage of components, ongoing COVID lockdowns, and rising inflation are all attributed to low demand. North America was the only region to experience growth in the last quarter with Apple&#8217;s iPhone 13 series and Samsung&#8217;s Galaxy S22 trio leading the way.
