The European Court of Justice (ECJ) said the EU General Court had made a number of errors of law and must review its decision.<\/p>\n<p>Three years ago, Apple was found not guilty of exploiting a legal loophole that allowed the company to save $14 billion in taxes that should have been paid to Ireland between 2003 and 2014.<\/p><div id=\"forum-2308691268\" class=\"forum-content-2 forum-entity-placement\">\t\t<div class=\"ad-wrapper\" style=\"width:100%;min-height:250px;text-align:center\">\r\n\t\t\t<!-- In Article Blog -->\r\n\t\t\t<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n\t\t\t\t style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3476569516614521\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-slot=\"9829044906\"><\/ins>\r\n\t\t\t<script>\r\n\t\t\t\t (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"641\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/After-all-Apple-may-have-to-pay-14-billion-in.jpg\" alt=\"After all, Apple may have to pay $14 billion in taxes\"><\/p>\n<p>In 2016, Apple was accused by the European Commission of receiving preferential treatment for illegal tax cuts in Ireland.  The company was charged a 1% corporation tax instead of the usual 12.5%, and the EU was not happy about it.  Both parties went to court, but the General Court of the European Union reversed the Commission&#8217;s decision to pay the taxes with retroactive effect.<\/p>\n<p>The new sentence is expected to be issued in the coming months.  The European Court of Justice has said that tax laws are not part of the discussion.
