However, the market fell 5% year-over-year.<\/p><div id=\"forum-1114851192\" class=\"forum-content-2 forum-entity-placement\">\t\t<div class=\"ad-wrapper\" style=\"width:100%;min-height:250px;text-align:center\">\r\n\t\t\t<!-- In Article Blog -->\r\n\t\t\t<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n\t\t\t\t style=\"display:block; text-align:center;\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-layout=\"in-article\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-format=\"fluid\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-3476569516614521\"\r\n\t\t\t\t data-ad-slot=\"9829044906\"><\/ins>\r\n\t\t\t<script>\r\n\t\t\t\t (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n\t\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"670\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/US-smartphone-shipments-grow-sequentially-in-the-third-quarter-fueled.jpg\" alt=\"US smartphone shipments grow in third quarter thanks to Apple's iPhone 15 series\"><\/p>\n<p>Carrier promotions aimed at premium device upgrades helped keep the downward trend from worsening, but Apple&#8217;s very late release of the iPhone 15 series in the quarter means it saw an 8% drop in sales to 17, 2 million units compared to the same period in 2022.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/1699647731_950_US-smartphone-shipments-grow-sequentially-in-the-third-quarter-fueled.jpg\" alt=\"US smartphone shipments grow in third quarter thanks to Apple's iPhone 15 series\"><\/p>\n<p>Samsung shipped 6.8 million smartphones in the third quarter, with the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 accounting for 20% of that number, boosting its performance.  In fact, Samsung&#8217;s market share in the US in terms of foldable devices stands at a very healthy 87%. According to analysts at Canalys, the US smartphone market is stabilizing, but &#8220;there is no expectation that the fourth quarter will see a turnaround.&#8221;  However, Canalys expects a \u201cslight recovery\u201d in 2024.<\/p>\n<p> Interestingly, the research firm says that there is a growing trend towards purchasing older generation phones, refurbished devices and holding on to current ones for longer.
