Expect additional online-exclusive colors from Samsung&#8217;s retail store: the current Ultra comes in graphite, sky blue, lime, and red.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/1704216569_793_Samsung-Galaxy-S24-Ultra-what-to-expect.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: what to expect\"><\/p>\n<h3>Flat and bright display<\/h3>\n<p>The Galaxy S23 Ultra lost some of the display curvature, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will eliminate it completely.  This can be a big win or a major disappointment for you, depending on where you stand on the flat screen vs. curved screen debate. On purpose&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3>Penna S<\/h3>\n<p>One of the standout features of the Galaxy S Ultra is the S Pen, and you can be sure that the S24 Ultra will have one.  It&#8217;s unknown whether the new pen will be smarter or better in some way \u2014 an FCC certification seems to indicate an unchanged pen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"425\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/1704216569_525_Samsung-Galaxy-S24-Ultra-what-to-expect.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: what to expect\"><\/p>\n<h3>New 5x camera, old 200MP + 10MP + 12MP<\/h3>\n<p>There has been a lot of speculation about the Galaxy S24 Ultra&#8217;s camera setup.  It seems clear now that Samsung will add a new 5x camera module and it will most likely be a periscope unit with a 50MP sensor.  That&#8217;s around 120mm in optical terms, and we expect it to do double duty as a 10x and 100x shooter too, taking advantage of its superior sensor and optics for the current 10x camera.<\/p>\n<p>We should also see the Galaxy S23 Ultra&#8217;s 200MP main sensor, a 10MP 3x zoom that&#8217;s likely the same as the previous model, a 12MP ultrawide with autofocus, and a 12MP front selfie.<\/p>\n<p>A word on video: the main camera will be able to capture 8K at up to 30 fps and 4K at up to 120 fps.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"960\" height=\"1280\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/1704216569_322_Samsung-Galaxy-S24-Ultra-what-to-expect.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: what to expect\"><\/p>\n<p>The Galaxy S24 Ultra will take 24MP photos by default, not unlike the iPhone 15 series.<\/p>\n<h3>Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with AI AI AI<\/h3>\n<p>The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will universally use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 across the world.  It comes paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung has reportedly nearly doubled the vapor chamber of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which would lead to better thermal performance.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be Samsung&#8217;s &#8220;smartest AI phone ever&#8221;.  The phone will have live translation on demand: you can speak foreign languages \u200b\u200bdirectly in the Phone app and have it translated in real time.  Other AI features will be a dynamic lock screen and smart keyboard as part of One UI 6.1.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"854\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/1704216570_521_Samsung-Galaxy-S24-Ultra-what-to-expect.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: what to expect\"><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s go back to the camera.  Although the optical hardware is the same (despite 5x), the new chipset will bring numerous improvements.<\/p>\n<p>The Galaxy S24 Ultra will have AI-optimized main camera photos.  Samsung has reportedly taken care of fixing the Galaxy S23 Ultra&#8217;s garbled output using a new algorithm that recognizes 12 types of objects.<\/p>\n<p>Even the night mode is better.  Nightography Zoom will bring brighter night photos with zoom cameras.  Generative editing is another AI feature that lets you move or remove objects or fill a space with whatever you want (a Samsung account and internet connection will be required).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-image\" width=\"1200\" height=\"489\" src=\"https:\/\/forum.sbenny.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/1704216570_871_Samsung-Galaxy-S24-Ultra-what-to-expect.jpg\" alt=\"Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: what to expect\"><\/p>\n<h3>Battery and charging<\/h3>\n<p>The Galaxy S24 Ultra will have the same 5,000 mAh battery as its predecessors with the same 45W wired and 15W wireless charging and the same charging speed of 0-65% in 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<h3>Emergency SMS via satellite<\/h3>\n<p>The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will come with support for emergency SMS via satellite via the 3GPP standard, but it remains to be seen whether all markets will offer this feature and how much it will cost.<\/p>\n<h3>Prices<\/h3>\n<p> The Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available in 12\/256GB, 12\/512GB and 12GB\/1TB configurations, priced at \u20ac1,449, \u20ac1,569 and \u20ac1,809 respectively.
