Android phone that can run VR applications?

Hello! Does anyone have any phones they can recommend that can run VR applications?

I'm currently developing a VR application for my thesis, and I plan on getting a new phone to test it on. I'm not too sure how resource-intensive the application would be but it's not a big project.

I had my eye on a Samsung S8, but if you guys have any better and possibly cheaper options (my budget's around $500), please kindly tell me.

I seem to say this every ti.e lol. You can't go wrong with the Samsung range. And you'll get s great one for your budget
