In the latest “APK Insight” report by 9to5Google, a recent update of the Google Messages app prepared the app for a couple of new messaging features of existing features. These unfinished features

Whether you are sending a standard SMS / MMS or an RCS message, you can send and receive voice messages. In a future update, you will be able to see transcripts of your voice messages to help you communicate more easily, perhaps in contexts where you cannot hear a message aloud. The feature was manually enabled and then tested in the report.

The screenshots reveal that the transcription of the voice memo takes place on the device. During testing, there was a clear delay when transcribing a voice memo of more than 10 seconds.

Transcripts can help when voicemail audio isn’t clear or listening isn’t an option. Voice messages are only transcribed on your device, and the transcript content is not sent to Google. Manage at any time in the settings.
Google Messages reactions allow you to play an emoji in response to any message you receive on RCS.
