Sony has never been the go-to brand for budget phones, certainly not in the flagship segment, and the Xperia 5 IV is no exception. That said, last week’s survey shows that the phone can have broad appeal if only its price is more palatable.
Half of the voters who attended like the phone, but are unwilling to part with $ 1,000 / € 1,050 / £ 950 to get one. For comparison, last year’s Mark 3 model cost almost the same at $ 1,000 / € 1,000 / £ 950. That’s nothing compared to Apple’s price increases for the new 14 series, which now doesn’t have a mini. member to start (the iPhone 13 mini is still available at a reduced price).
Going back to the Mark 3, when we interviewed you last year, the fraction of people who thought it was too expensive was smaller and a lot more people were preparing to buy one. However, this year’s Xperia 1 IV survey also shows a prevailing opinion that the price is too high. A sign of the times, perhaps?
There have been plenty of reasons as to why the Xperia 5 IV isn’t worth what Sony wants.
The post continues on our Blog: Results of the weekly survey: Sony Xperia 5 IV much loved, but overpriced
