Sadly, this mod no longer works. It opens just fine, but you're perpetually trapped by a popup telling you to update the app, and you can't close the popup or get around it. I tried it on airplane mode (Android) to see if being disconnected from the internet would help, but it didn't change a thing. It's unusable on Android.
Okay, I take back everything I said last night in my review post. I kept mulling the problem over, and I knew there just had to be a workaround. The mod game loaded just fine, but the gameplay was blocked only because of an update demand. So, I hope the moderators will forgive me for using all caps for a moment, but I FIXED IT! I solved the "update now" popup issue that prevents you from even playing the game. So for anyone still using this mod who is despairing about how they can no longer use it, fear not! I'll show you the way!
This fix works on Android, but iOS should certainly have an equivalent (anyone knowledgeable, please comment and add to this). This is specifically written for Samsung devices, but the same process will work on any Android device... you'll just have to use different tools.
You don't need a rooted device for this.
First, download the modded app available in this thread, install it, but don't open it yet. Then, go to the Google Play store, and download an app named CCSWE App Manager. This is the Google Play app store link:
When it's open, your device will ask you to enable Samsung Knox (security protocol stuff) if you haven't already. Agree, and the app will open. If you end up having to search for the app on your phone if it doesn't automatically open, it will simply be named "App Manager" with a plain, unassuming icon (on a sidenote, you can do a lot of amazing things with CCSWSE...and potentially some damage, so don't poke around with system apps if you don't know what you're doing. But! You can get rid of some bloatware with it).
CCSWE opens up and shows you a list of apps on your device. Search for or scroll to Slots Era, and tap it. Now, follow these instructions:
-There are four tabs at the top of the app's menu. Select "Services".
-Scroll down to "UnityDownloaderService".
-Select it, and choose the option to disable it. (Check the attached image to this post to see a screenshot of this action. )
That's it! Now you can load and play the game! Slots Era will still sometimes pop up and ask you to update, and you'll have to exit the app and reopen it, but it's now an occasional annoyance rather than something that completely prevents you from even playing the game. I've spent hours (way too many) playing, and there seem to be no problems! If you have an Android device that isn't a Samsung, the same principles apply. Find an app or a way to entirely disable that process, and you'll be in business. Check my attached screenshot for the exact process. You'll need to disable it entirely, not just kill it.
Caveats: I haven't yet tried to link with my Facebook account, and I'm not sure how this process would work on iOS. So anyone with understanding of how to apply this process to iOS would be appreciated by anyone here who uses it, I'm sure!
I hope this is helpful to someone out there!
Update: Facebook Connect works, account sync works. I'm on Level 48 with 1.7 trillion coins (that's not a typo). This may be an older mod, but it's still golden and 100% worth the SBucks! I'll update again later on when I finish out what's available in this version of the app, and update to the newest version. Hopefully I can keep all my coins and rubies!
