Speculoos: the famous spice biscuits



Spice biscuits? But do they exist? And are they good? If you have never tried the speculoos you probably asked yourself one of these questions when reading the title of the recipe. The answer is yes for each of the questions. The speculoos I am spice biscuitsprecisely nutmeg, black pepper, cloves and especially cinnamon. And they’re not just good, they’re overwhelming. They were born between Belgium and Holland, but their unmistakable aromatic flavor has made them famous and appreciated throughout Europe and North America, especially since their version in spread cream. They are crunchy, and generally have a delightful color golden hazelnut. They are perfect at Breakfast or for a youor even as an ingredient for dessertfor example as a basis for a cheesecake.

Ingredients for 30 cookies

  • Brown sugar: 150 g
  • Bicarbonate: 1 g
  • Cold butter in small pieces: 120 g
  • 00 flour: 250 g
  • Nutmeg: 1 pinch
  • Ground black pepper: 1 pinch
  • Powdered cloves: 1 pinch
  • Cinnamon powder: 10 g
  • Preparation: 4 hours, 20 minutes
  • Cooking: 20 minutes
  • Total: 4 hours, 40 minutes
  • Calories: 125 kcal / 100 g
