Tab or Phone?

Is it worth getting a tablet over a phone in terms of performance? To compare, the two latest samsung products of each category. I feel like the Tab is way better for games but some people told me Tabs cut down on performance to fit bigger batteries & hardware for the screen.

They're right. Tablets usually have lower specs compared to smartphones of the same tier. If you want to play, though, you can either use Android emulators on your PC or Tablets indeed, as bigger screens play a major role in this. There's still the third option: a phablet or, at least, a 6-inches display smartphone.
