The movie begins when Kim Ja-hong (Cha Tae-hyun), a passionate firefighter, leaps from the burnt building to save the child's life. Because of this noble death, he was chosen as a pure soul. Gang-lim's Guardian (Ha Jung-woo), Haewonmak (Ju-ji-hoon) and Dukchun (Kim Hyang-gi) are tasked to defend Ja-hong through 7 challenges in 49 days. If the guy is found to be innocent based on his life span, he will be reincarnated immediately. However, the journey does not go well when another member of Ja-hong family also dies and turns into a spirit of hatred.
