I've tried to make poems

...and then, decided to post it here.
Most of my creations were written for the purpose of passing my Literature subjects. But since I poured my creativity, my heart and soul for each of them, I feel the need to show it!

Here's my first submission:

Aftertaste
I thought that a kiss would taste like honey.
But when our lips met, it was a different story.
The truth is, I never minded the flavor
because in that heartbeat, I did savor
the kiss that once brought me pleasure.

I really believed what we had was special,
but my memory and the reality's reciprocal.
Your lips, I had noticed, were getting bitter
and I was much a fool, still in denial
to hope that it can still get better.

I tried to ignore that acrid taste with time.
Yet it never changed, like us—strained and never fine.
In the end, we broke up and cut off the line,
leaving only bitterness as an aftertaste
that ever reminds me of my love you waste.

Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.

I like it! It sounds tragic and bittersweet. The last verse makes me think, love is probably never wasted. Sometimes it hurts but even then, we always grow through its experience. It's a great poem, glad you shared it with us☺

Glad you like it! :)
Yeah, I get what you mean P.S. No real life experience
The healthy way of dealing with break-up would be to move on and learn from it. Though like you said, I wrote it to be tragic and bittersweet cause that's what POEtry is all about.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the poem. Honestly, I'm still new with poetry as my knack for it only showed up in college. I was an essayist back in high school.
So again, I appreciate it.

I see what you did there! Haha.

It's awesome that you enjoy both prose and poetry. And don't worry about experience, the most important thing is that you have fun with it. If you ever need some inspiration, I personally really like Rumi's poems. They're short but powerful~

And you're very welcome! I'm glad to help anytime :)

Thank god or else that would be the death of my punstar career😂.

I've just searched Rumi, thought he was a blogger😅 His poems are certainly powerful, especially that one poem about life and death. I'll definitely consider his works if I'm stumped while creating one. For now, my sources of inspiration are late-night-thoughts and in-the-shower-ideas.

Yeah, it's important to enjoy what you do, although this started because I had to.
Still, I'd love to gain experience or else I'll die laughing at my cringy works.
And since you've graciously extended your help, then I'll shamelessly take you on that someday.
