Name of the eBook you are reviewing: Lies of Locke Lamorra - Scott Lynch

Locke Lamora is a thief, con-man and leader of the Gentlemen Bastards, a group that has made it their calling to alleviate the nobility of Venetian-styled fantasy city Camorr of their money in a series of witty deceits, misdirections and sheer bullshittery. All seems to go elegantly well, until suddenly a new foe appears and everything spirals out of control....

Review:
"The lies of Locke Lamora" is the first book out of three so far published in the Gentlemen Bastards series written by Scott Lynch. It starts out with a description of Locke's childhood as a thief, then an apprentice priest of the Crooked Warden, the nameless thirteenth God, the patron of thieves. The narrative is split between the past (Locke's childhood) and the present (his newest con) and jumps continuously between both in between chapters. This can be confusing. So beware.

A few points to criticize: the main antagonist (the grey king) was hyped a lot in the beginning. He kind of let me down though. His bondsmage is a much better antagonist, but he, too, suffers from "necessarily being more stupid than the protagonist".

But at least the "stealing clothes" part was genuinely hilarious. Go give it a try!

Would you recommend this to other users? Without wanting to spoil too much I can say that this novel is decently entertaining. It has a very satisfying end that manages to tie up all the lose ends in a final spectacular deception. So if you're looking for an entertaining read without too much depth, give this a try.
