This is an adventure fantasy novel that takes place in the marvelous world of Africa. This story revolves around a man who is desperate to marry his love of life, a mysterious woman with multiple husbands, and finally a very unusual but fascinating God idol that brings good luck.

Review:
Sir H. Rider Haggard is no unknown name to fantasy adventure-loving booknerds. This jam-packed book full of twists and fun is another excellent book by him.
The story is about the life of Alan Vernon, who is an ex-army officer. He belongs from an elite rich family but now is in a broke state. Money was a must thing for him, as the love of his life Barbara couldn't marry him because of her greedy uncle. As he was known as a very intelligent and honest man, some of his family friends insisted him to invest his remaining money in a scam. But he instead chooses a dangerous path of visiting Africa in search of gold. His houseworker Jeekie who has his own exotic life story by the way, leads Alan to Africa. Jeekie was a native of Africa but was living in England for the past 30 years with Alan's family. This is the starting of a great adventure where Alan faces the wrath of the native queen who has multiple husbands and turns them into mummies. Was Alan and Jeekie were able to return from Africa alive? Were they able to get their desired gold? what happened to the queen? and finally, who is the Yellow God?

This story has much more to offer, trust me.
