As per the report by Galaxy Club, Google and Samsung are already working on a third-generation Tensor SoC, which is expected to power next year’s Pixel 8 range. On the one hand, it’s no surprise that Google and Samsung will continue to work on their joint venture, but on the other, it’s not the first time Google has shut down a project or two.

Google's Tensor 3 CPU and Samsung's Exynos 1380 are reportedly in the works

After all, the first-generation Tensor chipset isn’t quite on par with the competition from Qualcomm and Apple. Things may change in the future, however. The advantage of the Tensor, however, is that Google has the freedom to adapt the SoC to its needs. Its camera AI capabilities, for example, are quite impressive and allow the Pixel 6 to offer some advanced features.

The same report also claims that Samsung is working on the successor to the Exynos 1280, a mid-range chip used in some of the company’s budget offerings.

Unfortunately, the leak doesn’t go into detail, aside from the Tensor 3s S5P9865 model number and the fact that it has been tested on a development board codenamed “Ripcurrent”, there is nothing else we can work with.
