Another week down, let’s recap. Infinix unveiled the Note 12 VIP and it can run 120W Hyper Charge. Infinix claims that the 4,500mAh battery has a 0-100% time of just 17 minutes. Otherwise, the Note 12 VIP has a 108MP camera and a 6.7-inch 120Hz display. The Infinix Note 12 VIP will soon be available in select regions for $ 300.
The vivo X80 and X80 Pro have started their global launch in India. Both phones offer 6.78-inch AMOLED, 50MP main cams, and 80W charging. The X80 Pro has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and a more advanced 120Hz AMOLED LTPO2 display with QHD + resolution. vivo X80 gets MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 chipset and a Samsung E5 FHD + AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
vivo X80 Pro is available in a single Cosmic Black color and a 12/256 GB trim starting at INR 79,999. Reservations begin today while open sales begin May 25th. Buyers in Malaysia can also pre-order the X80 Pro for MYR 4,999. vivo X80 is available in Cosmic Black and Urban Blue colors. The 8/128 GB jacket will retail for INR 54,999 while the 12/256 GB model will go for INR 59,999. The device is also on pre-order in Pakistan for PKR 159,999.
Huawei Mate Xs 2 has also gone global. It will arrive in European markets in June for € 1,999 in white, black and purple. Huawei’s latest fold-out packs a 7.8-inch OLED with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 px and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Once folded, the panel shrinks to 6.5 inches easier to use with one hand. Despite the large size, the Mate Xs 2 weighs 255 grams – considerably less than its predecessor – Huawei’s Mate Xs (300g) and Mate X2 (295g). The new Mate Xs 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 4G chipset and comes in a single 8GB RAM and 512GB of storage.
A rumor has emerged that Samsung will design its own custom chipset for the Galaxy S 2025 series. The new rumor cited by South Korean publication Inews24 and reliable tipster IceUniverse suggests that Samsung officials are not happy with the backlash on the Galaxy S22 series GOS scandal, as well as the insufficient yields and poor thermal management of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 chipset. Therefore, a new approach similar to what Apple is doing with its Series A chipsets is discussed with the ultimate goal of having better optimized devices.
Samsung has also released a new firmware update for the Galaxy S22 line of devices. Includes various unnamed security fixes and “general feature stability” improvements.
