Samsung Galaxy brand smartphones and tablets lack a feature that many other Android devices, especially from Chinese brands, have had for years. We’re talking about the real-time network speed indicator displayed in the status bar, now available to Galaxy users via the QuickStar module in Samsung’s Good Lock personalization app.
Samsung users could get a real-time network speed indicator on their Galaxy phone, but it required a third-party app or enabling a firmware flag if the device was rooted. But now you don’t need to if your device has One UI 9 based on Android 17 installed, which is currently only available as a beta for Galaxy S26 series smartphones in six countries.

The reason you need One UI 9 is that the real-time network speed indicator via QuickStar is currently only supported on One UI 9, and it’s unclear whether it will be supported in older versions of One UI.
That said, if you own a Galaxy S26 series smartphone running One UI 9 beta and want the real-time network speed indicator, you’ll first need to install Good Lock from the Google Play Store or Samsung’s Galaxy Store if you don’t already have it.
The version of QuickStar that carries the network speed indicator is 15.7.00.27. If it is not available through Galaxy Store, you can install it manually by downloading the APK file (at your own risk) from here.
Next, open Good Lock > open QuickStar from the Plugins section > tap the toggle at the top to enable QuickStar features > tap Visibility of indicator icons > tap the switch next to Network speed option. Once this is done, the live network speed indicator will appear in the top right corner of the screen.
