Apple introduced several new Apple Intelligence features during WWDC 2026 along with the advanced AI Siri. However, the company’s most powerful on-device AI model, along with many of the features it enables, will only be available on select devices.
In a press release, Apple confirmed that its AI model on the most advanced device requires at least 12GB of unified memory. This model powers several new Apple Intelligence features, including Siri AI features such as more expressive voices and improved dictation.

As for iPhone, support is limited to iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air, all of which come with 12GB of unified storage. The standard iPhone 17, which ships with 8GB of RAM, does not meet the requirements and therefore will not support these features.
For iPad users, the new AI features will be available on models powered by the M4 chip or newer with at least 12GB of unified memory. On Mac, support extends to devices with an M3 chip or later and 12GB of RAM or more. Finally, the Apple Vision Pro with M5 will also support advanced AI features.
