Communication is essential

As I said, Apex Legends puts you on a team no matter what happens. And the key to doing well is for your team to communicate.

Historically, games that require this type of communication have been fickle. There is always a risk that people have problems with the microphone or have no microphone at all. And the most dangerous risk: having a 12-year-old boy screeching directly into the ear!

Apex Legends solves this problem by adding a “ping” system. With the push of a button, players can alert their team of weapons, available upgrades, possible landing spots, and so on. The system works surprisingly well and even a team without microphones can function as a cohesive unit thanks to the system.

Death is but a door

For fans of traditional shooters, the most frustrating Fortnite it was the aspect of permanent death. Once you are dead, you are dead: it is not possible to respawn.

Apex Legends changes this intuitively and intelligently. If one of your squadmates manages to retrieve your banner after you die, he can take it to a respawn beacon and bring you back to life. This gives fallen players an incentive to stay longer and adds a fun “catch the flag” element to a game that otherwise has few goals.

How popular is this option? Just ask the Fortnite developers, as they are releasing updates that allow for similar methods of player respawn!
