Voice acting is good, but some characters can get annoying, especially if you don’t understand humor. There is also a wide variety of sound effects used for the wide variety of weapons. Meanwhile, the music never gets stale and adds extra intensity to the important moments.

On the other hand, nothing has changed regarding the graphics. The signature cel-shaded style looks a little more refined, but the real update comes to the environments. These are now more diverse and colorful than ever, even if the images aren’t all that better in terms of quality.

Performance

Since the release of Borderlands 3 in September 2019, Gearbox has released a number of patches. These updates have fixed several issues with the game. Some of the former have reduced the power of legendary items and rebalanced other game elements.

However, more recent patches have made more radical changes. They fixed a large number of bugs that were present at launch. Updates also alter the spawn rates of certain items and mobs to make them more frequent.

Overall, the changes mean Borderlands 3 is now a more fun and less frustrating experience. Unfortunately, framerate stutters and lag during online co-op are still prevalent.

Final verdict

Borderlands 3 may not be the best entry in the series. In truth, very little has changed between this and its predecessor. While there are some improvements to some gameplay mechanics and features, the action is pretty much the same. Some problems also remain unsolved.

Of all the grievances, the biggest offender is history. It’s not fun or addicting, with the new villains becoming unbearable at times. If you love the series, you’ll still like Borderlands 3 but it does little to attract new fans.
