Game

But there is more to Devil May Cry 5 than an excellent story. Combat is the name of the game here, just like it always has been. Nero is back again for his share of the demon carnage, but he has lost his iconic demonic arm, Devil Bringer. Fortunately, he now has a special prosthetic arm called the Devil Breaker, which he can use with various accessories. Using the Devil Breaker and his accessories (which include Mega Man’s hilarious Mega Buster), Nero can do a short job on the demon squads. He also has many other weapons at his disposal.

Combat feels smooth, satisfying, and over the top, just as we’ve come to expect from the DMC series over the years. DMC5 is extraordinarily stylish and bounty with collecting red orbs, completing simple puzzles, and battling colossal boss battles that will challenge you with every step. But here’s the cool part: you’re not just playing Nero. You can try newcomer V and see what’s up his sleeve too. Unlike Nero, V doesn’t actually use a weapon, but instead summons the demons Griffon and Shadow to fight for him. This keeps him at a safe distance from the action and forces you to try a different fighting style.

You can also play Dante, of course, because what would be a Devil May Cry play without the infamous demon hunter himself? Dante steals the show in almost every way. He has huge swords, a weapon that transforms into a real motorcycle, and a host of other ridiculous weapons. Fighting as the iconic son of Sparda is a sight to behold. Most of the time you can’t choose which character you want to play. But when you do, Dante is the simple choice.
