Then, there are the pictures. Madden 19 isn’t just the coolest NFL game, it’s arguably the most authentic sports game ever made.
The renders of the players, the playing field and the surrounding stadiums are all fantastic. The attention to detail is unrivaled, to the point that it is even possible to spot reflections in the helmets of opposing players.

The animations also saw considerable love and attention from EA. Catching the ball, dropping a pass and taking on opposing players offers an extra layer of realism. Much of the action on the ground feels much smoother than in recent iterations. Real player movement also helps make the games physical and genuine, an important feature in sports games that rely on quick moves and physical battles.
But this does not mean that everything is perfectly animated. When there is bad animation, it stands out even more because the rest of the game looks so good.
The most obvious problem is that players can get stuck in other players on the ground, which interrupts the immersion in the middle of a match.
The rest of the presentation also falls short of the graphics. This is most evident in the commentary, which seemed to simply copy and paste huge portions of Madden 18. You hear certain stories from the comment team all the time and it gets maddening very quickly.
