Survival in the village of Redwind

Since Peet is just a child in a very scary world, survival is needed to carry the story to the end. Fighting in Neversong is anything but challenging, but it works quite well. Also, the game throws some new gameplay mechanics to the player frequently enough to keep things interesting.

Neversong is too linear to be called a Metroidvania. However, the player will occasionally return to locations with their shiny new toys to unlock new secrets. Each mechanic feels comfortable to play with and everything feels smooth and enjoyable throughout the game.

Beauty in despair

Neversong has a fantastic art style. The dull, muted colors work well for what this game is all about. In addition, the overall design of the characters, enemies and settings fit perfectly into the experience. While the style may be similar to other indie games we’ve seen before, Neversong is still enjoyable to watch at any point in the game.

The environments have enough detail for some environmental storytelling. Also, there are some moments that will lead players to notice a small hidden detail in the background of the setting. Most of the time, these little details will create feelings of discomfort or discomfort. This leads the game to have a strong impact on the player’s thoughts or concerns about what is waiting for him right in front of him.

Neversong also plays with some “When You See It” scenery. This will mostly revolve around Dr. Smile, who occasionally stands firmly against the backdrop of a place. The game seems to draw the player’s attention to the villain quickly enough to catch a glimpse of the monster before it disappears once again. Any brief sighting of this character is creepy, but intriguing. However, seeing a little more of him could have really made the climax a little more chilling and intense.
