Traditional PvP is familiar and a little tiring. It usually features high-level players raiding and grieving low-level players. It’s understandable that The Lord of the Rings Online omits traditional PvP, but replaces something truly unique in its place.

The mode is called Player vs Monster Player. As the name suggests, this mode allows some players to take on the role of villains like orcs and spiders and fight with the players. While the winner cannot loot a body, doing well in these battles gives players special equipment and praise.

To be honest, I didn’t find this very engaging. But it gives veteran players something new to do if they get tired of raiding or just throwing new characters.

Final verdict

Is The Lord of the Rings Online Worth Playing? I respond with a resounding “Yes”.

First of all, it’s mostly free, and the quest packs are relatively low cost. You end up paying very little for hours of entertainment.

The environments are vivid and beautiful and the gameplay feels very unique compared to other MMOs. I can safely say that it is the best Tolkien-inspired game ever made!
