History

After learning that Persona 5 Strikers would continue the story of the original game, I wasn’t expecting much. In all honesty, I didn’t want much more, especially after the release of Persona 5 Royal, which was a massive expansion of the base game. The story ended in a good place and it would have been easy to spoil things by adding more.

I actually underestimated exactly how much of this game was going to be story-centered. The story and relationships aren’t as in-depth as Persona 5, but Persona 5 Strikers’ storyline feels like a natural continuation of the characters and the world. Of course, this is great news for fans of the series!

While the story doesn’t go to a lot of new places, it definitely does a great job of providing more characters that fans love. Plus, the new characters featured in Strikers are delightful and fit very organically into the original cast. Sadly, however, many of Persona 5’s fan favorites are absent from Strikers. Even if they would have felt really worthless if they had been there.

Trapped in prison

Persona 5 Strikers introduces “Jails”. These dungeons take the place of Persona 5’s “Palaces”, where most of the action takes place within the game. Players will have to explore these prisons and fight the enemies that inhabit them to save the day.

These dungeons are really interesting to look at and share the same visual style and style as the rest of the Persona series. There are also small arenas scattered around the prisons that create fantastic combat encounters, complete with opportunities for environmental and even stealth attacks. Everything about prisons is great in that sense.

However, the biggest problem I have with dungeons and the game itself is that they don’t respect the player’s time. Persona 5 Strikers tend to rely on retrieval missions and tedious obstructions to lengthen the game. This isn’t a big deal, as combat is always fun to play. While it doesn’t feel as rewarding as the palaces in Persona 5. In that game, progress always seemed to be happening at a steady pace.
