Hello, community. I'm an 'oldhead' (50+ years of age) and I've played a plethora of games since childhood. I have a ton of memories of my love for games such as my 100+ hours to complete FF IX because I wanted to uncover every secret or beating the hidden boss in Super Mario RPG on the SNES.
One of my most memorable video game moments is the day I saved enough money to buy a Sega Genesis game console at Toys R Us. I worked at Wendy's at the time and it took me a while to get the cash. I couldn't get a ride to Toys R Us so I decided to ride my bike to the store and I got my cousin to ride with me for protection (I didn't want my Genesis stolen...yeah, I didn't live in the best neighborhood). It was a long ride to the store and one funny part of the story that I can't forget is when my cousin said he was thirsty and we stopped at a Wilson's Creek convenient store during the ride (Rochester, NY, for those who know). I didn't want to spend too much because I wanted to make sure I had enough for the Genesis where I bought one can of generic orange soda (it was cheap so I could've bought 2 cans) and we SHARED the soda :-D He called me cheap and still can't let that go to this day! Haha!
Long story short, I bought the Genesis and it came with Altered Beast. I played the heck out of that game and every other game I bought for the Genesis. I still remember turning into Super Sonic after getting all of the Chaos Emerald gems in Sonic 2, which I still think is the best Sonic game ever made for that reason alone. Phantasy Star 2 was great, too.
Fast forward to today and I'm still playing Genesis games through emulation. The games I couldn't afford I now have in ROMs and I play the heck out of those games. It's a great time to be alive to be able to play some great games.
