Good day,
I simply wanted to share this game my older sister and I used to play when we were young.
You'll need:
Paper
Pen or Pencil
Eraser
An adult to supervise (Optional)
Note: Don't use a calculator or popsicle sticks. This is only fun if someone could make a mistake.
The rules and how to play:
Someone would pick a number (sum) and the goal is to pick addends that would be equal to the sum.
Example: If the sum is 10, then some of the possible addends are;
1 +9 =10
2 + 8 = 10
3 + 7 = 10
4 + 6 = 10
5 + 5 = 10
First, decide on how many turns you want to play, then decide who's going to pick the sum (or who's going to pick first); A game of Rock, Paper, Scissors would do the trick. Now you just take turns giving possible addends until you get them all.
Alternatively, you can also set a limit, say 3 turns per sum. This way you can explore more numbers.
Optional:
Use a point system; 1 point for trying and 2 points for getting it right.
Give rewards/prizes, could be stickers or stamps. The person with the most points gets to pick first then followed by the next and so on.
So yea~ it's a basic math quiz with a simple game mechanic.
