While many titles are compatible with Valve’s Steam Deck, Bungie has already stated that Destiny 2 is not one of them. And now Bungie has revealed that trying to play Destiny 2 on the Steam Deck can get you banned!
This news comes to us courtesy of prolific Twitter user @ Wario64. He pointed out that Bungie’s support site gives a rather grim warning to players.
The message couldn’t be clearer. “Destiny 2 is not supported for play on Steam Deck or any system using Steam Play’s Proton unless Windows is installed and running. Players attempting to launch Destiny 2 on Steam Deck via SteamOS or Proton will not be able to access the game and will be returned to their game library after a short time. Players attempting to circumvent the Destiny 2 incompatibility will be banned from the game. “
While this news is disappointing, it’s not exactly surprising. Some other high profile games such as Fortnite will not be compatible due to concerns about both cheating and overall game compatibility.
