Google may face hefty fines in the UK and Dutch courts in two lawsuits that will be filed in the coming weeks. Between the two causes, Google may have to pay 25 billion euros (~ 25.4 billion dollars) in fines. According to Reutersthe lawsuits allege that Google used unfair advertising practices.

Geradin Partners, the law firm, has released the following statement on behalf of the publishers affected by Google’s alleged practices.

It is time for Google to take responsibility and make good the damage it has caused to this important industry. This is why today we are announcing these actions in two jurisdictions to secure compensation for EU and UK publishers. “- Damien Geradin

A spokesperson for Google said so Reuters that “the lawsuit is speculative and opportunistic” and society plans to “fight it vigorously”.

The UK claim will aim to recover compensation for site owners with banner ads on their websites, including traditional publishers. In the meantime, the Dutch application is open to all interested publishers.
