Samsung has released a number of massive gaming monitors under the Odyssey brand, such as the 55″ 16:9 Ark or the 57″ 32:9 Neo G9. These are curved monitors, however, while some users prefer flat monitors. The new Odyssey Neo G7 (model name: G70NC) is for them.
It is a 43-inch display with 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 px, 16:9). Odyssey displays are large enough to be used as televisions — in fact, they’re Tizen smart TVs — and a flat display works best for this. The other models use tight curvatures that are optimized for use at a desk rather than viewing from the sofa.

144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time • Built-in support for game and video streaming
The Neo G7 features a Quantum Mini LED backlight for precise local dimming. It gets bright enough for a VESA Certified HDR600 Display (600 nits) and also supports HDR10+. You can use it in a brightly lit room due to its brightness and matte finish on the display surface.

As a gaming monitor, you can connect it to a PC via DisplayPort or HDMI 2.1. The panel can operate at up to 144Hz refresh rate with 1ms response times, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro is supported. You can keep an eye on your FPS, variable refresh rate, and HDR status from Game Bar .

The Odyssey Neo G7 has built-in support for game streaming services like Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now. You can connect a wireless controller via Bluetooth and you’re good to go. You don’t even need to connect external speakers, as there are 20W speakers on board.
As mentioned above, this is a smart TV too, so you can stream Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube, all the time while your PC or console is turned off. You can also control your SmartThings devices from the Samsung Smart Hub.

Something else. The included stand can be tilted to a comfortable angle, but you can also mount the display to the wall. Additionally, a couple of USB 3.0 ports are available from the built-in USB hub. As for internet connectivity, you can go the wired route with Ethernet or use Wi-Fi 5 (game streaming will benefit from a wired connection as it’s more stable and has lower latency to boot).
Samsung will launch the Odyssey Neo G7 in the first quarter of this year, exact timing and pricing will be announced by the company’s regional offices.
