Last month, Blizzard revealed that they are working on Diablo II: Resurrected, a remaster of the original 2000 Diablo II and its 2001 expansion Lord of Destruction.
But they left out the best part: if you still have one of your old save files from 20 years ago, you can actually use them for the new game. However, this feature was added to the game quite by accident.
Speaking with IGN Middle East, producer Matthew Cederquist confirmed how things went. “Back when we were working on it [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work and put it in and it worked! And we were like, ‘Ok, this is the best feature ever,’ “she said.
Old school players looking to get back in the game are likely to agree with his assessment.
Whether you’ve kept save files for decades or are new to the franchise, you’ll be able to play Diablo II: Resurrected later this year on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
