In a phrase that sounds like a blast from the past, HTC announced a new phone this week. The HTC U23 Pro packs a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 108MP main camera. The U23 Pro is IP67 water and dust resistant and has a 4,600mAh battery with 30W charging. The phone is available in Taiwan, starting at TWD 16,990 ($550/€510/INR 45,505).
Details of the Sony Xperia Pro-II surfaced in a report this week. He says the phone will have three Exmor-T stacked sensors (the same advanced technology as the Xperia 1V’s main sensor) and could once again carry a 1-inch main sensor (if it’s able to use its full size this time remains a question). The report says we may have to wait until early 2024 for the Pro-II.
Google has fixed the overheating and battery drain issue affecting some Pixel 6 and 7 series users. The fix was performed by Google at the server level, without the end user having to do anything.
Oppo could exit the European market. Following the news that Oppo is leaving the French market, its German website has now been wiped of all products, fueling speculation that Oppo is leaving Europe. Oppo refutes the claims.
A Google Pixel 8 Pro hands-on has been leaked, showing what appears to be an infrared thermometer on the back. The Pixel 8 Pro is expected to launch alongside the Pixel 8 in October and both are said to be powered by Google’s Tensor G3 SoC. The Pixel 8 Pro’s screen will reportedly be smaller than the Pixel 7 Pro’s, at 6.52 inches, and is said to use Samsung’s larger ISOCELL GN2 sensor for its main camera.
Finally, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 could arrive earlier than usual. A supposed July 26 event would mean the pair goes on sale on August 11, which is a week or two before the pair is announced in 2022.
It is compatible with the VIVE XR Elite mixed reality headset.
The device is not expected to be launched this year.
