We’ve seen more foldable smartphones released in the last year from a larger pool of brands, and a new rumor suggests that Sony will also join in with its own clamshell foldable. The new rumor surfaced in a forum post from South Korea, though the information shared is murky to say the least. The source says that we will see a next-generation high-end clamshell foldable from the Xperia Compact series.

The device will reportedly ship without a cover screen, which sounds odd since all other vertically foldable phones so far have some sort of secondary screen. There’s no other info on the specs at the moment, so we’ll just have to wait and see if Sony really plans to re-ignite the Xperia Compact series as a clamshell foldable.
