The vivo V29 Pro is official and while it looks almost identical to the V29, it packs some interesting upgrades. But before we test them all, let’s do a quick unboxing.
The phone comes with a cable, a case, and an 80W charger. That’s not a bad haul for a mid-range gamer.

The Pro looks identical to the V29 from the back, right down to the placement of the camera lenses. But where the standard model packs a 2MP depth sensor, the Pro adds a 2x 50mm zoom camera intended for portraits.
The other key improvement is the Dimensity 8200 chip – it’s a 4nm unit with more graphics power than the 6nm Snapdragon 778G inside the V29.

There are no changes at first: the V29 Pro has a lovely 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED with a resolution of 1260×2800 px and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits. An excellent panel all round.

The 2x camera comes as a 49mm unit, making it the perfect focal length for portraits of people and pets, and a great focal length for most other everyday scenes.
Used in conjunction with the V29 Pro’s adjustable LED Aura Light, you can take some interesting portraits in low-light conditions.

We took a couple of impromptu shots in the office to give you an idea of what to expect. Keep in mind that each one takes up more than 7MB, which is a bit ridiculous. We’ll delve deeper into this in our full review.
