Foldable phones have a reputation for being expensive, and in most cases, it’s a well-deserved reputation. However, several Motorolas have applied a £200 discount, including the foldable Razrs, making them easier to spend.

The Motorola Razr 40 is down to just £600, well below the rival Galaxy Z Flip5. However, the Z Flip4 is perhaps the fairest comparison (finding new units is complicated, however). The Razr 40 features the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset and a baseline display on the outside.

The interior, however, is decked out with a 6.9″ 144Hz (FHD+, HDR10+) LTPO panel, which is almost the same as the more expensive Razr 40 Ultra (the key difference is the 165Hz refresh rate on the Ultra). The phone also features a 64MP main camera with OIS and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera with 120° aperture. Inside there’s also a 32MP selfie camera (the small display on the cover makes the viewfinder look poor.) The phone has a relatively large battery for a flip, 4,200 mAh, and supports both 30W wired and 5W wireless charging.

While not quite as affordable, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra still costs well under a grand. It brings the more powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset to the table and (most importantly) a much more usable 3.6-inch cover display (1,056 x 1,066 px resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate). This instead has a 12MP main camera (with OIS) and a 13MP ultra wide one with a narrower lens (108°). The 3,800 mAh battery is smaller, but the more efficient chipset makes a difference, so the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra have very similar battery life. Charging is the same at 30W wired and 5W wireless.

If foldable devices still don’t appeal to you but a £200 discount does, take a look at the Motorola Edge 40. It’s a bar phone with a 6.55-inch 144Hz (FHD+) curved OLED display and is powered by the Dimensity 8020 It has a 50 MP main camera (1/1.55″ sensor, OIS) and a 13 MP ultra wide-angle camera, plus a 32 MP selfie camera. The 4,400mAh battery isn’t large, but it’s very quick to charge via USB-C (68W) and also supports 15W wireless for added convenience.

The Samsung Galaxy A34 has a similarly sized 6.6-inch display, an FHD+ AMOLED, although this time with a 120Hz refresh rate and is flat. It’s based on the less powerful Dimensity 1080, but this one has a microSD card for expanding storage. The 48 MP main camera has a smaller sensor (1/2.0”) but still has OIS, the ultra wide-angle and selfie cameras have 8 MP and 13 MP sensors respectively. The A34’s battery is a bit larger, 5,000 mAh, but only supports relatively slow wired charging (25W). The phone has an IP67 rating (compared to IP68 for the Moto).

Also in this price range there are two Poco X5 models. The Pro model is more expensive, but you get a 108MP main camera (1/1.52” sensor) instead of a 48MP one. Additionally, the more powerful Snapdragon 778G is capable of recording 4K video at 30 fps, the vanilla phone’s Snapdragon 695 maxes out at 1080p at 30 fps. It’s also worth noting that the Poco X5 Pro has faster charging at 67W (100% in 45 minutes instead of 60 minutes).

If you’re looking for something more premium, the Nothing Phone (2) brings a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and a 6.7-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED display to the party. It also has a pair of 50MP cameras: a 1/1.56″ sensor and OIS for the main one, a 114° lens for the ultra wide-angle one (the tele module is not present). The battery on this one has a capacity of 4,700 mAh and supports 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

You can also buy the TWS Nothing Ear earphones (2). They have a recognizable, transparent design and good quality audio, but the ANC, latency, and battery life were less than impressive.

Finally, a pair of Android Wear smartwatches, specifically the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 duo with One UI Watch. If you don’t care about a physical frame, you can buy the Galaxy Watch6 for less money. Please note that we have connected both Bluetooth and LTE versions in both sizes.

The Galaxy Watch6 Classic is larger – 43mm or 47mm versus 40mm or 44mm – and this is due to the rotating bezel as the screen size is identical, 1.3” and 1.5” for the small and large versions . The battery capacity is also the same between the vanilla and Classic versions, 300mAh for the small ones and 425mAh for the large ones.
