This week, Disney and Lucasfilm launched their “Bring Home the Bounty” event revealing a new Star Wars product every Tuesday through the end of the year and it looks like a new Star Wars game may be revealed on December 14th.

Right now, information on such a game is as scarce as the Tattooine landscape. We simply know that the official Star Wars site has an icon for each week “Bring Home the Bounty” which is used to preview what the reveal will be for that week. Since the December 14 revelation icon of week 10 is a video game controller, it makes sense that the revelation could be a video game.

What has excited fans is that we already know of a major Star Wars game on the horizon: the remake of Knights of the Old Republic coming to PC and PS5. And we know of upcoming ports of older console games, including physical copies of games like Jedi Outcast and Star Wars Racer.

By making a big deal out of a “reveal”, however, Disney implies that this will be a game that hasn’t been announced yet. Ubisoft is expected to work on an upcoming Star Wars game with open world exploration. And there are rumors in the Force about a Star Wars game to be directed by David Cage. Alternatively, it could be a sequel to an existing Star Wars property like Fallen Order or something else altogether.

Regardless of the game’s announcement, the hype is back in the air for Star Wars thanks to the success of Disney + series like The Mandalorian and the most recent Star Wars: Visions. Let’s just hope the new game has the quality of these great series rather than the disappointing films of the sequel trilogy.

What do you think the big announcement will be? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
