Fun on the go … kind of
This game is completely browser based, which means you can’t download it as an app. However, you can still play it on your phone if you want.
As I said earlier, no special plug-ins are required to play it on a browser. So, nothing stops you from trying to play it on Safari, Chrome, or whatever your favorite mobile browser is.
The actual experience of doing this is a mixed bag. Most of the game is spent reading a lot of tiny text, so you might end up having to zoom in and out a bit when playing on your phone. With the additional screen real estate, I found this experience more natural when playing on a tablet rather than a phone.
Spreadsheet: the game
I go ahead and say it: this game divides. And that’s because the core gameplay is very addicting for some players and a huge turn on for others.
While there are things like alliances and achievements to keep things interesting, most of the AD2460 could be described as “Spreadsheet: The Game”. You’re managing resources, tracking payback times, and plotting your next decision on the tech tree.
If you like the idea of micromanaging an empire, then this game will scratch that itch like no other. However, if you primarily want to bolster your strength and stomp on someone else, you’d probably be better off playing a more traditional RTS like StarCraft 2.
