Considering Modern Warfare’s high-budget nature, expecting top-notch visuals and sound is absolutely right. Fortunately, this latest entry in the series delivers. Coming up to over 100GB, it’s clear that much of that data constitutes high-quality textures and patterns. There is nowhere in the game that isn’t amazing, with the graphics and animation being impressive throughout.

Well-directed footage that gives the characters some emotional weight elevates the raw story. A strong and bold soundtrack also adds a lot of pomp. Unusually for a Call of Duty title, there are also some more delicate moments in the soundtrack. The voice acting is superb while each weapon sounds powerful thanks to the audio effects.

Final verdict

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a fantastic return to form for the franchise. While some of the latest installments may have disappointed, this game answers all the major complaints players have had. The campaign demonstrates why a strong single player experience is important. Meanwhile, the range of multiplayer offerings is great. Modern Warfare has something for everyone and will no doubt keep fans busy for a long time to come.
