Performance

Then there are the more pronounced technical issues that most dramatically hinder the game. Even playing on a PC capable of running the game at moderate to high settings, Danger Zone still suffers from annoying slowdowns.

At one point the drop in frame rate reached the point of making the game completely unplayable, necessitating a decrease in visual settings. The game offers a fair number of options to tweak the way it works, but the situation still proved irritating.

If there is to be a saving grace here, it is in the minor and ancillary details. The variety of weapons is solid, every firearm and tool looks and sounds as it should. The option to select an additional item before matches, similar to the Call of Duty perks system, offers a decent amount of help during matches. Danger Zone controls quite well. And the actual feeling of moment-to-moment combat, especially in the speed and short timeframe of the firefights, is sufficiently engaging.

Final verdict

As stated earlier, it’s understandable what Valve has been trying to achieve with Danger Zone. They wanted a quick and easy addition to Global Offensive that could match, or even surpass, rival games.

The problem is to strive for such success without the willingness to commit to creating a fulfilling experience. Such a fate seems to have fallen to CS: GO Danger Zone. It embodies the notion of half measures and half productions in every aspect. Even for players who accept Battle Royale shenanigans across the board, this is a tough sell.
